Once you’ve made the decision to mount your television, your next step is to find out which type of TV mount is right for your particular situation.
With TV mounts, it’s not a case of one-size-fits-all, however with some simple checking you’ll be able to make your choice in no time at all.
There are three critical points to look for when choosing a TV mount, and these are:
- Dimensions
- Weight, and
- Mounting Hole Pattern
Dimensions refers to the physical width and height of the television unit. Whilst large brackets can arguably hold a small TV, the last thing you want is the bracket to be visible from all angles. Check dimension requirements on the box before purchasing.
Weight
refers to the television with supplied stand removed. If you don’t know the weight of the television, don’t attempt to weigh it on your bathroom scales (they’re not always accurate). Check the weight on your TV instructions, or on the brand’s website. Be absolutely sure of the weight before making a decision.
Mounting Hole Pattern
may be something you’re unfamiliar with. This refers to the holes on the back of the TV unit on which the mount attaches to. This is referred to as the VESA mounting pattern. Again, this information is found on your TV instructions or on the brand’s website.
Once you have knowledge of all three points, you’re ready to choose the correct television mount.
